St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Christian Education

During the summer our focus is on fostering a sense of Christian community. Sunday School classes are suspended June through September 2 to encourage participation in Sunday morning breakfasts and one worship service. This is an opportunity for our entire church family to come together for fellowship and worship. Various church groups take turns preparing and serving delicious breakfasts at a minimal cost of $3 per person and $5 per family. Breakfast is served in Byrne Hall from 8:30 - 9:15 AM each Sunday morning through September 2. A worship service follows at 9:30 in the church, which is directly behind Byrne Hall. Rite I and Rite II services with Holy Eucharist are celebrated on alternate Sundays.

Rally Day

Rally Day for the 2007-2008 Sunday School year for children and adults is scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, September 8, in Byrne Hall. This year we will host an ice cream social. Information concerning class offerings will be available, along with signup sheets for adults and registration forms for children. This is an excellent opportunity to meet our Sunday School teachers. Mark your calendars and be sure to come and enjoy a delicious bowl of ice cream!

Children's Sunday School

Sunday School begins at 9:20 on September 9, 2007. Curriculum is based on Biblical readings for each Sunday. A variety of activities are planned to make these experiences meaningful and enjoyable to each child. Children are encouraged to think of others by bringing canned goods for the needy and participating in outreach projects for shut-ins. Sunday School concludes at 10:20.

Every month that there is a fifth Sunday of the month, our 8:00 and 10:30 services are combined and we have one church service at 9:30. On these occasions the Sunday School children participate by presenting offertory songs, helping with ushering duties, taking up the baskets of food for the needy, and various other duties during the church service.

Our Sunday School teachers are dedicated and enjoy working with children. They meet once a month to pray, plan, study, and share ideas. They attend Christian Education workshops offered by the Diocese.

Adult Sunday School

Classes resume on September 9, 2007. More information will be available on Rally Day, September 8.

Vacation Bible School

Evening Vacation Bible School (VBS) for children and adults is offered during the month of July. Plans are to continue this evening VBS program. This format has been found to be very beneficial in that it allows participation of adults and children.
